Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India. It was set up with West German collaboration. It is being operated by Steel Authority of India. Recently, a Rs 12,000-crore modernisation and expansion project at the Rourkela Steel Plant was dedicated to the Nation by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi on 1 April 2015.
The Kendriya Vidyalayas are a system of central government schools in India that have been instituted under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). It comprises over 1100 schools in India and three abroad. The system came into being in 1963 under the name 'Central Schools'. Later, the name was changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya. All the schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE).
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sector-6 Rourkela was established in the year 1982 under the project sector that comes under Rourkela Steel Plant (SAIL) .Its main motto is to educate the children of the employees of RSP, CISF, NSPCL and other Central and State Govt. departments. It is now running with total strength of around 700 students and 33 teaching and non-teaching staff. The Vidyalaya has double sections from class I to V and from VI class onward it has single section. It has 17 class rooms, 3 science labs, 2 computer labs, library, staff room, children park, play ground etc.
Our main objective is to pursue excellence and set pace in the field of school education and to initiate and promote experimentation and innovativeness in education in collaboration with other bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education and National Council of Educational Research and Training etc.
